Abstract
Purpose of the Study: This metamorphosis was made possible through extensive legal action, planning, cooperation and the persistence of many people who were both directly and fndfrectly involved. It was the purpose of thts study to (I) describe the condition of the Southwest Urban Renewal Area and its basrc value prior to redevelopment; (2) reveal the basic procedures involved in the change; and (3) surrrnarize the resultant condition and value to the community of Terre Haute. Each step taken In the Southwest Urban Renewal Area has followed a definite sequence. The finished product ts planned to function as an integral part of the community, once it has becorr,e offtcially cofrl)leted. It is expected to be finished by December of 1967. The following chapters should provide some insight into the necessary procedures uttllzed, their results, and a glimpse into the future.
