Abstract

This study examines whether international students' communicative English proficiency affected satisfaction with quality of instruction, academic advising, services, and campus climate at Indiana State University (ISU). The study also attempts to determine if the students' level ofEducation affected their English proficiency and college satisfaction. The research was carried out at ISU in fall 2007. Eighty-five international students voluntarily participated in the study. Each subject was asked to assess his or her levels of English proficiency and rate his or her college satisfaction via an online survey. The results of the study show no significant relationship between the perceptions of English communicative proficiency and college satisfaction. In addition, level ofEducation did not affect the students' English proficiency and satisfaction across any aspects. A majority of the respondents indicated that their verbal English proficiency was at the low intermediate level. Overall, the respondents were satisfied or neutral with every aspect.
