Abstract
This study compiled foundational information and research as well as investigated the unexplored areas of Christian faith and Christian character of the Illinois public school district superintendency. The overall guiding questions of this study were "Is there a significant relationship between the total Christian faith score and the total Christian character score of Christian and Non-Christian public school superintendents?" and "Is there a significant relationship between the total Christian faith score and each of the ten Christian character categories of Christian and Non-Christian public school superintendents?" This was a significant study since it answered the guiding questions and found statistically significant relationships between total Christian faith and total Christian character as well as total Christian faith and the ten categories of Christian character. While all of the relationships between Christian faith and Christian character were found to be statistically significant, some of the relationships were stronger than others. Listed in order of greater to lesser correlation, hope, faithfulness, total character or love, self-control, gratitude, humility, and peace had large correlations to Christian faith. Goodness and forgiveness had medium correlations while patience and gentleness as well as joy had small correlations. Further implications can be drawn since Christian character and the ten individual Christian character categories have a statistically significant relationship with total Christian faith. The Christian character traits could also be viewed as model leadership traits. This study built connections between Christian faith and Christian character with various other leadership traits. A linear equation prediction model was also developed so scores for total Christian character and for the individual ten categories of Christian character can be predicted given an Illinois public school superintendent's total faith score using the linear equations for total Christian character and for each of the ten categories of Christian character.
