Blumberg Hall. Sycamore Towers, Unit I. ARCHITECT: Miller-Miller and Associates. CONTRACTOR: F. A. Wilhelm Construction Company. DEDICATED: November 1, 1964. NOTES: Named for Benjamin and Fannie B. Blumberg, benefactors of the university and community. HISTORY: Blumberg Hall is named in honor of Benjamin and the late Frannie B. Blumberg, a Terre Haute couple who have devoted time and have given generously to many institutions and programs for character building of the young people of the community. This Dedication of Blumberg Hall recognizes service to out institution in the past which is destined to continue through additional beneficences of Mrs. Blumberg. Mrs. Frannie Blumberg, a native of Indianapolis, was widely known as an author and artist. Her literary works, many in the field of children's literature, reflect an interest and concern for children manifested when she was a teacher of kindergarten. Her artistry in oils, water colors, and allied media has been shown in Terre Haute's Swope Art Gallery, in Indianapolis, and in Florida. In addition to her creative works, Mrs. Blumberg was held in high esteem for her social service work with many organizations devoted to the betterment and character building of youth. She made a very substantial bequest to Indiana State College for the support of the program of special education for handicapped children, which will be of great assistance in the future development of this program. Mr. Blumberg, a native of Terre Haute and son of an immigrant watchmaker, has devoted his professional life to the fields of real estate and finance. However, his personal life has been involved in the developing character in young people and aiding in improving this community in many ways. His work with and contributions to various youth organizations has earned him our undying gratitude. As a member of the Indiana State College foundation, Mr. Blumberg gave generously of his time, wise counsel, and financial support to the program of the Foundation.
