LABORATORY SCHOOL, 1935 UNIVERSITY SCHOOL, 1978 UNIVERSITY HALL, 1992 ARCHITECT: Miller and Yeager DEDICATION: November 12, 1937 COST: $1,000,000 ADDITION: 1937 HISTORY The laboratory school building was a PWA funded project and the land was donated by the City of Terre Haute. The first part of building was completed in July, 1935. An additional PWA grant allowed for completion of an additional wing to house the Sycamore Theater and gymnasium. Gilbert Wilson murals enhance the interior. The building used to operate as a unit of the Vigo County School Corporation. The school allowed first-hand experience for many ISU student teachers in a K-12 setting. Portions of the school were shut down over the years, with grades 10-12 ceased in 1978, and the rest of the school closing its doors in 1992. Renovation projects started in 2007 and finishing in 2009 aimed to bring the building back into active use. The building now houses the Bayh College of Education, classrooms, and an enclosed atrium in the center of the facility.
