DEDICATED: April 25, 1961 COST: $2,500,000 ADDITION: Unit II, 1966 SCIENCE BUILDING, UNIT II, 1969 ARCHITECT: Ewing and Miller and Associates GROUNDBREAKING: February 24, 1966 DEDICATED: April 16, 1969 COST: $4,727,233 COST: $1,000,000 The facility was constructed in three phases. The first unit, located at the former corner of 6th and Chestnut Streets was completed in 1960. The second unit, constructed to the north from Dede Plaza, was completed in 1968. An Animal Research Facility was build adjacent to the north end of the building in 1986 housing classrooms, laboratories and the Science Library. The Facility also features a radiation laboratory, third floor science collection exhibition facilities, rooftop greenhouse and the John C. Hook Observatory named in honor of John Hook, Professor of Geography (1962-1986). In 1989 a new entrance addition was added to the west side of the building and extensive renovation took place on the interior.
