Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to examine, not only Humphrey's 1960 campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, but why he was unable to secure it. By focusing on two specific primaries -Wisconsin and West Virginia- this study illustrates that Humphrey's defeat was his own.
