Abstract
CARe: Communities Against Rape initiative is a well-developed curriculum that focuses on rape and sexual assault prevention among youth in Indiana. The In-School Component is housed at Indiana State University, while the remainder of the project is located at Purdue University and community sections throughout the state oflndiana. The CARe project is funded by the Indiana State Department of Health, Center for Disease Control (CDC), Rape Prevention Education Grant. Assessing the use of the CARe In-School curriculum through a survey of past workshop participants will give an insightful view of the curriculum effectiveness. The results are specifically focused on three different concerns: what educational level of teachers are using the curriculum, whether Family and Consumer Sciences (F ACS) teachers or other subject area teachers use the curriculum the most, and what sections of the curriculum guide are most used. Some pertinent results included that more high school teachers responded to the survey and had been trained at the workshops and that F ACS teachers reported more use than non-FACS teachers. Further investigation using a two ratio z-test showed a significant difference in the proportion ofFACS teachers versus other teachers responding to the survey. Finally, analyzing each section of the curriculum guide and the other hypotheses gives insight to the researchers about further development of the curriculum.
