Abstract

This thesis explored the relevant literature pertaining to leadership development processes and activism processes, as well as expanded understanding of how positional leadership roles are manifest within the literature. There were two guiding research questions answered by the study. First, what is the most influential literature related to leadership development and activism processes? Second, how are positional leadership roles utilized in the literature? After the exclusion and inclusion criterion were applied to all found articles, 13 articles were included. A qualitative meta-analysis was used to identify four main themes from the included articles. The four themes identified were responsibility to the collective, institutional factors, experiences with identity, and factors of getting involved.
