Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a significant difference on English language arts and math median growth model scores for school corporations and charter schools awarded the Excellence in Performance for Teachers Grant during the 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 school years compared to school corporations and charter schools not awarded the grant. This study also analyzed the impact the professional evaluation program selected had on 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 English language arts and math median growth model scores for school corporations and charter schools awarded the Excellence in Performance for Teachers Grant. School corporations and charter schools awarded the Excellence in Performance for Teachers Grant scored significantly higher on English language arts Indiana growth model scores in the 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 school years compared to school corporations and charter schools not awarded the grant. These same grant winners scored significantly higher on 2012–2013 Math Indiana growth model scores compared to school corporations and charter schools not awarded the grant. School corporations and charter schools that selected RISE or modified RISE for their professional evaluation program did not score significantly higher on 2011–2012 English language arts Indiana growth model scores compared to school corporations and charter schools that selected another professional evaluation program. These same school corporations and charter schools that selected RISE or modified RISE for their professional evaluation program did not score significantly higher on 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 math Indiana growth model scores compared to school corporations and charter schools that selected another professional evaluation program.
