Abstract
This study was designed to assess the effectiveness of a program for improving facilitation skills of case conference coordinators during individualizedEducation program meetings throughout the state of Indiana. The population of the study included case conference coordinators within the state of Indiana who have been trained in the Facilitated IndividualizedEducation Program (FIEP) process, and case conference coordinators from the state of Indiana who have not been trained in the FIEP process. The case conference coordinators included administrators from all levels, specialEducation directors, and other educators who were determined to be case conference coordinators by their respective school districts. Research questions were developed to analyze the impact of the FIEP process on a set of desirable outcomes for case conference meetings. The methodology of the study included the creation of a case conference effectiveness (CCE) scale which was used to determine the overall satisfaction with case conference coordinators with the process they currently use during their case conference meetings. The study found, that, in general, the respondents were fairly satisfied with all aspects of the process after they received FIEP training. Evidence is provided which documents that those who have received FIEP training believe in positive outcomes through their current case conference procedures.
