FINE ARTS AND COMMERCE BUILDING, 1940 FINE ARTS BUILDING, 1962 ARCHITECT: Miller & Yeager CONTRACTOR: James McHugh DEDICATION: March 15-17, 1940 COST: $365,000 REMODELED: 1963 HISTORY: The Fine Arts Building was originally constructed as a Public Works Administration project with the land donated by the City of Terre Haute. Built in tandem with Tirey Hall, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt attended the dedication of these two buildings in 1940. The building features performance, rehearsal, and exhibit spaces as well as classrooms and faculty offices. NOTE: PWA (Public Works Administration) FUNDED PROJECT ($165,272.00). LAND OFFERED BY THE CITY OF TERRE HAUTE.
