Identifier: PS501 .S85 v.20s. Text: CHILDREN I cannot remember When I was without my children’s love. When there weren’t cries at midnight For a bottle, Or a diaper change, Disrupting precious sleep. Waking to children’s persistence For cereal Before dawn On a Saturday morning. Strategically planning an escape To the bathroom For five minutes Of uninterrupted peace, Appreciating the gift of silence While sleeping twins recharge. Yet, these children Awaken my curious nature, Humorously dissolving My stubborn anger. Their direct intuition And truthful manner Astounds me. I am enlightened By these wonders, Whose mere presence Can be nothing less than magic Pure and simple magic.
